COMPONENTS OF THE NEED BASED SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM:
Overview – When the Julie Foudy Sports Leadership Academy was initially conceived, one of the first items of discussion was how to get financial aid to students with need. We decided to ask corporations and individual benefactors to help us bring kids to the Academy who would otherwise not be able to afford this experience. Without hesitation, our “fellow visionaries,” as we like to call them, responded with an emphatic "YES". We are very proud to announce that our need-based scholarships have been provided by the Julie Foudy Leadership Foundation through the generosity of the following companies and individuals:

Who is eligible? - Girls between the ages of 12 – 18. Applicants must be 12 years old by the end of the calendar year, December 31, 2008. While serving all girls, ages 12-18, special consideration will be given to underserved sectors.
While former JFSLA students and previous scholarship recipients are welcome to apply, the Julie Foudy Leadership Foundation will give preference to applicants who have not previously attended the JFSLA. The Julie Foudy Leadership Foundation's goal is to expose as many kids as possible to the JFSLA experience. If you are a previous JFSLA student and/or scholarship recipient, please pay special attention to the "Personal Statement" section of our application.
What is the amount of the scholarship? - $945 (the full cost of Tuition)
How do I apply for the scholarship? - Download and print out the application below. Please fill out every section completely (please do not leave blanks) and mail to:

Applications must be received by mail. We cannot accept any faxed or emailed applications.
Your completed application should consist of 4 pages max:
1) Personal information page
2) Financial information page
3) Personal Statement from student applying (one page max)
4) Statement from coach, teacher, mentor about Student (one page max)
It is required that every section of your scholarship application is complete.
What is the deadline for application? - The deadline for applying for a scholarship is has been extended to June 1st, for ALL SITES. Scholarships will be awarded on a rolling basis as we receive them.
Notification and Application Acceptance: - Upon completion of the application review, the Julie Foudy Leadership Foundation will contact you by email, phone, or by mail. At this time, you will be informed as to the final decision that was made based on your scholarship application. If you have not heard from us, please assume that your application is still under review.
