Do students need to bring their own water jug?
Yes, each camper needs to bring their own water bottle/jug. Water stations will be placed on the fields and water will always be available for the campers, but campers should bring their own water jugs. Back to Top

How much personal spending money should each student bring for the week?
Of course this is a personal preference but we will have a ACADEMY STORE selling Julie Foudy Sports Leadership Academy hats, t-shirts, and other apparel. There are also vending machines, on-site cafeterias (and pizza-delivering restaurants!) nearby. Back to Top
Will cell phones be permitted at the Academy?
Students are welcome to bring their cell phone. However no cell phone use will be allowed during any of the leadership, field or classroom/auditorium sessions. Back to Top
Will National Team Players be at the Academy every day?
Yes, every one of our staff members will actively coach and participate in demos all week long. One exception is if a National Team player comes in as a guest speaker, rather than as part of our staff. Back to Top
Will National Team Players be at both Academies?
Julie Foudy and the designated National Team players will be at the Academies the entire time. The only exception is if they get called to play for the National Team. Back to Top
Will students have the opportunity to get autographs and photos?
Yes, the staff is very willing to provide time for autographs and photo opportunities. A particular day and time will be given to this. Please respect the staff’s need to teach by waiting until the appropriate time. Back to Top
What is your coach to player ratio?
Our coach/teacher to player ratio is at least one coach/teacher to every 9 players. In addition, National Team players will rotate among the groups. Back to Top
Can I request a specific staff member to work with my student?
The responsibility for staff allocation is solely with the Julie Foudy Leadership Academy. All of our staff are hired based on their ability to interact positively with all students. Back to Top
How can parents contact a student in the case of an emergency during the Academy Session?
For the entire duration of the Academy session, a Julie Foudy Sports Leadership Director will be on site. The Director will be carrying a cell phone 24 hours a day and, in the case of an emergency only, will be available throughout the program. This cell phone number will be given to you prior to your arrival. Please keep it in a safe place. Back to Top
How can I get a non-urgent message to my daughter?
To get a non-urgent message to a student at the Academy, you can call our 24-hour message service at (949) 648-2050. During the Academy sessions, this message bank will be checked on a regular basis. We will deliver your message to your daughter as soon as possible. Back to Top
Can parents come and watch the sessions if they want?
The two sessions we encourage parents to come and watch are the opening introduction speech (immediately following check in on the first day) by Julie Foudy which explains the Julie Foudy Sports Leadership Academy curricullum/concept and the final day's World Cup. Only the enrolled students will be allowed to attend the leadership seminars and listen to the Keynote speakers, panelists. Back to Top

New Jersey: There are two students in each room and they share common areas in terms of bathrooms and lounges in the dorms.
Chicago: There are two students to each hotel room. The hotel is a newly remodeled Hyatt Hotel.
California: There are two students in each room and they share common areas in terms of bathrooms and lounges in the dorms.

Can I request a roommate?
Roommate requests will be honored to the best of our ability. The students must request each other. In general students will be staying with other students their own age. In a case where two students request each other as roommates and are different ages, the older student will reside in the younger section. Back to Top
When will final roommate assignments be made available?
Rosters and roommate assignments have to be submitted to the institutions, 1 month before the first day of each Academy. You have until this time to inform us of your choice. A key reminder to parents and campers: A wonderful element with residential camps is they offer a unique opportunity to meet new friends and experience new people. Back to Top
What kind of supervision is provided within the dorm setting?
The Academy provides a minimum of one staff member per fifteen students in the dorms. Staff members reside on each floor should a camper need assistance. Trainers and administrators also reside in the dorms should a camper have any urgent medical or other needs. Campus Security will also be at each location. Back to Top
Are the rooms air conditioned?
New Jersey: No, but if you feel you need to bring a portable fan please do so.
Chicago: Yes
California: No, but if you feel you need to bring a portable fan please do so.

New Jersey: No. Each room will have a phone jack ONLY. Students do have the option to bring their own phone and cord. However, a personal calling card will be required, and the Academy cannot guarantee that the phone jack will be operable. Pay phones will be available near the dorms.
Chicago: Yes, However please remember the parent/guardian of each student will be responsible for any incidental charges incurred by that student.

Can I pay for the Academy in two separate installments rather than all at once?
During the on-line registration process a deposit of $350 is needed
to secure your spot ($150 of which is non-refundable). You can opt to
pay in full or opt for the balance payment to be automatically deducted
from your credit card at a later date. (4/25/08 for NJ and 5/15/08 for CA & Chicago)
After April 1, 2008: All registrations for NJ will be charged in full.
After May 1, 2008: All registrations for Chicago will be charged in full.
After May 1, 2008: All registrations for CA will be charged in full.

How much of each day will be designated for soccer training, and how much will be designated for leadership?

What are the minimum skill requirements for students that are interested in applying for the Academy?
At the Julie Foudy Sports Leadership Academy we aim to expose as many players as possible to our great role models, coaches, and leadership curriculum. We have chosen a curriculum that integrates a mixed-ability teaching approach. Even though we have some staff members that have played at the very highest level in women's soccer, we have broken down the training regimen into workable modules for all ages and abilities. How will the students be grouped for the soccer training?
We divide our groups by age unless a group or team has asked to be put together into the same group. We allow students to train with groups that are older, however we only allow a maximum of a 2 year difference. i.e. An 11 year old can request to be grouped with 13 year olds but not 14 year olds. Please make sure you request the age group on the registration form. Back to Top

What happens if a student is sick or injured during the session?
Qualified trainers will be on duty for the duration of all sessions to care for minor injuries and illness. Parents or guardians will be contacted immediately if there is a serious injury or a child needs to leave the Academy early for a medical reason. Please make a notation on the health form if there are any medical conditions we should be aware of in advance of the camper’s attendance at the Academy. Our athletic trainer will be available for questions on the first day of each Academy session and throughout the week. Back to Top
What if a student is injured or sick and cannot attend the Academy? Will the Academy refund the registration/application fee?
Due to the contractual obligations and
payment schedule of the Institutions we use, we are unable to offer any
refund for cancellations received within 30 days of the start date of
your chosen Academy…regardless of the reason. However we would be happy
to help you gift this registration to another student.
All cancellations must be received in writing at: Marnie@juliefoudyleadership.com 30 days prior to the first day of your Academy (before 5/22/08 for NJ, 6/13/08 for Chicago and 6/27/08 for CA)
in order to qualify for a refund. If we receive your request prior to
this deadline your credit card will be refunded the appropriate amount
minus the non-refundable deposit.
Refunds may not be posted until after the last day of Academy season – Aug, 2008.
